Our Expertise

At Markel Re’s Direct Umbrella and Excess Liability Division we are focused on professionalism and prompt service. Our underwriters, most of whom have worked in wholesale agencies, have a keen appreciation for the challenges agents face today. We have designed our programs and our systems so that you can obtain a prompt and professional response. Like all Markel entities, we believe risk selection and pricing adequacy are key to our being an enduring partner.

Products

We specialize in contractors-artisan and general, service risks, new ventures, habitational risks (rental dwelling, apartment buildings, motels, etc.), manufacturing exposures, offices, stores, vacant land and buildings, recreational exposures (parks, clubs, etc.), restaurants and bars, special events, light-to-medium hazard products liability and programs of all types. Limits up to $5 million are available. We will also entertain Excess Umbrella on select business.
